After many months of tinkering, it’s finally ready…
Welcome to my new website!
This website is built in a system that is completely new to me. It’s called Hugo CMS and it works very differently from regular website platforms like Wordpress. Hugo is designed to quickly create static websites, which means that every page you click on in this site is already ready to be served and read by your browser. WordPress, on the other hand, “builds” each page from the server before it becomes readable in your browser with each click you make, which means it often takes longer than the static pages shown here.
There are always pros and cons to any system, of course, and the biggest pain with this system is that it took a long time to learn how everything is put together and works. Another small disadvantage of static websites is that they lack some dynamic features. I can’t create login pages or a more advanced webshop, and loading data from different data sources on the web is not possible in the same way as dynamic pages. But I am satisfied and think that Hugo is a logical and tangible platform that feels exciting to continue learning and developing.
My goal is to post something on the website at least once a month so that something happens here. On the previous website, I hardly got started with any kind of blogging at all. Probably because I was’nt fully satisfied with it. I’m looking forward to put more stuff up here again, after all it’s pretty fun to write!
